Amazon’s Business Intelligence team is responsible for a business analytics platform that provides reporting, analysis, and data mining, and to over thousands of internal and external customers worldwide. To help deliver these core business metrics and decisions, we run one of the world’s largest data warehouses.
We are currently seeking a talented Oracle Database Administrator. The ideal candidate will have experience with large-scale, massively concurrent, highly available distributed Oracle systems. You should have a proven ability to rapidly master complex new skills and concepts, as well as the ability to work independently and self-motivate. Successful candidates will have the ability to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure. Excellent interpersonal communication skills are required.
Basic Qualifications:
1. 5+ years of Oracle DBA experience on Unix/Linux
2. Experience with 10g for at least 2 to 3 years on Unix/Linux
3. Experience with Oracle data guard and replication
4. Strong working knowledge of Oracle DBA best practices (e.g., schema management, index optimization, and use of hints)
5. Strong query and database tuning skills
6. Experience in a 24X7 production environment
7. Capacity monitoring and management capabilities
8. UNIX shell scripting, PLSQL, and SQL skills
9. Fast troubleshooting and resolution skills
10. Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities
11. Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with DBA and application teams
12. BS/MS in computer science or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Expert level knowledge and experience with Linux environments
2. Expert level knowledge of SQL and performance tuning
3. Hands on experience implementing and supporting RAC cluster
4. Track record of engineering performance and availability solutions.
5. PL/SQL experience good to have
6. Perl/CGI skills nice to have
